Our Nursery

Welcome To

Caterpillars Nursery!

At Fairview we are lucky to have our very own nursery - the wonderful Caterpillars!

We take children from the term after their 3rd birthday, so this means...

3-year-olds will be able to start a funded nursery place in the September, January or April following their third birthday.

Your child’s birthday must be before:

  • 31 March to be eligible for funded nursery education from the Summer Term (April)
  • 31 August to be eligible for funded nursery education from the Autumn Term (September)
  • 31 December to be eligible for funded nursery education from the Spring term (January)

These are the cut off dates. If your child’s birthday is, for example, on the 1st or 2nd January and the term starts on the 5th January, unfortunately their funding will not start until the Summer term after Easter because they have passed the cut-off date of 31st December.

***UPDATE***

We are delighted to be able to offer up to 30 hours provision from September 2023, and if required, your child can stay all day and bring a packed lunch to eat in school.

Nursery sessions from September will be as follows:

Morning Session: 8:45am to 11:45am

Lunch: 11:45am to 12:30pm

Afternoon Session: 12:30pm to 3:30pm

You may choose a combination of these sessions dependent on your requirements and funding arrangements (minimum of 3 sessions each week) - please contact the office for further details or to register your interest.

Caterpillars Nursery

Caterpillars nursery provides children with a fantastic environment for learning which allows them to become fully immersed in meaningful learning opportunities which extend their natural curiosity and inspire creative thinking. The children are encouraged and supported to develop their own independence and an enthusiastic attitude towards learning, fully preparing them for their transition into Reception.

In Caterpillars children learn through a careful balance of child-initiated play and adult directed activities which are based on their interests. Children have access to a wonderful outdoor space and take part in Forest School activities throughout the year.

Learning is based on topics and themes inspired by the children's own interests. In order to make the learning meaningful to the children, we plan for various opportunities which immerse them in hands on experiences. In the past we have had visits from firemen, Wild Science (holding snakes and tarantulas!), farm animals, story workshops and hatching our own ducklings from eggs!

Please note that all children attending our Caterpillars Nursery

are required to wear Fairview School Uniform.

Attendance at the Nursery does not automatically give your child a place in Reception when they are eligible, this place has to be applied for online via Medway Council.

Please contact the school office on 01634 338710

for further information or to add your child to our waiting list.
