RE
RE Vision Statement
At Fairview Community Primary School, we believe that it is fundamental for children to belong to a safe and nurturing community, where they will develop an array of skills that will enable them to make their own contribution to our global society. Religious Education has a significant role for the progression of children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. It promotes respect and open-mindedness towards others with different faiths and beliefs and encourages them to develop their sense of identity and belonging through self-awareness and reflection. Through Religious Education, children also develop their knowledge of the world faiths, beliefs, values and traditions.
Discovery RE
Religious Education at Fairview follows an enquiry-based approach using the Discovery RE scheme.
It provides a way of widening our children’s knowledge of the world through the wonderment of religion and beliefs. Throughout the scheme, children will study aspects of the major world faiths; Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism and Sikhism. These are explored alongside the children’s own beliefs, values and experiences. There is an emphasis on learning about religion but also learning from religion.
