Giraffes

Self-Portraits

We have been working hard to improve our drawing skills by sketching our own portraits. We built it up bit by bit. Firstly, we focused on proportions and created guidelines for our different features. Then we added detail starting with our eyes, then our nose (which was extremely tricky!), our mouth and then our hair. Lastly, we added more shading to really bring our portraits to life.

Getting Outside!

The sun has been out so Giraffes have been pottering about in our school's planting area.

Working together, we planted potatoes, carrots, rainbow beetroot and some flower seeds too!

We will need to look after them for the next few months and then we will be able to harvest our crops, which we are really excited about!

Spelling Bee

Giraffes did a brilliant job during our Year 6 Spelling Bee Competition!

They worked hard to learn lots of spellings and worked their way through the rounds with a lucky few making it to the finals and two being crowned as champions!

Don't forget to see photos of all the finalists and champions on Fairview's English page!

We learnt how to march and salute like British soldiers.
Marching helps to develop discipline and teamwork - Miss Fassum thinks we should do more marching at school!
